My mom is super fan of Disney movies (me too
) and she loves the animation The Beauty and The Beast. (My favorite ones are Mulan - my childhood movie
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Aladin and Brave). And all the weekends we often are watching some disney movie on tv in the morning. When the live action as announced on Brazil we get pretty excited to watch it.
As an art history student and rococo/baroque appreciator the movie scenery and figurine was one of the things witch most called my attention in an positive way. And watching the movie in 3D I've immersed on this magical universe in a enchanted rococo castle, it was one of the greatest experiences i've had this year (and that's just the beginning). The nostalgic music and history are priceless and I liked how part of the protagonists childhood was showed without messing all the original animation plot.
I've notice more black representative on the movie (I prefer do not talk to much about this topic here, considering the fact the black characters are most secondary/tertiary characters). Being realistic, I don't know which black people would appear so much on a french court of 18th century, at least in a not oppressive way, (I need to improve my racial story study winch I don't started yet) but as a kid fictional show I understand that things like slavery and racism would not be exposed in the film and end the magic of Disney itself (lol). We don't want traumatize our children at least 11/12 years old anyway, besides black children already get victim of racism on primary. What kind of kid want hear that maybe the black people on the court does not get the same privilege of Belle for example and our heroes love story was pretty fine until the french revolution, that if Belle wasn't accused of witchcraft an get burned or considered mad and get hospitalized in an asylum ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .
Anyway the movie is awesome, I realy liked how they showed a bit of the protagonists pasts and put Le Fou as an gay character (I would consider Le Fou admiration for Gaston like an platonic love on the first movie) and they just reproduce the animation adding some extra details that makes the history more complete and I loved it. Seeing the live action makes me think the viliain of history looks more like an tangible douchebag that can be any place of your conviviality and just need to an impulse and power to screw the life of an person killing someone or doing another thing because of pride and I consider him a realistic and actual villain that can be any stupid person you can know without magic and stuff. Who is more dangerous tan an ignorant and jealous person whit followers?
I loved the movie and recommend you to watch.
